Television has been a part of our life for many years. Although there are both those who are opposed to it and those who support it, most people spend their some time watching TV. I think this is a pity because it has harm more than good, it has lots of bad sides. And also, I do not think that today TVs teach children something, on the contrary, it has lots of bad effects on children.

If we want to mention its harms, we can say lots of things about this. For instance; there are several horror films or series on TV, children watch them, learn something affecting them in a bad way during their development and they apply these things such as trying to make magic, flying, shutting, crying all the time when their parents do not do what they wish, etc. I think all these things are harmful for children. Instead of learning and living real life, they are affected from TV and they do not see the reality. If there would teaching programms or useful news on TV for children. TV could be useful for them, but unfortunately, it is not.

Apart from its harms for children, it has also the same bad effects on adults. For instance; women programms such as Seda Sayan, Petek Dinçöz, Esra Eron in the morning and this prevents them from their houseworks, caring with their children, carring out their responsibilities etc. Namely, they spend their time in vain. Also, they watch romantic series and some of women begin to act as the actresses. This is bad for their family structure. Moreover, when they watch romantic films, series, they cry and make themselves sad in vain.

As a result, TV has a lot of bad results for both children and adults. I do not understand that although people know TV has no good for them, they go on watching TV and spend their valuable time sitting opposite it. When we have chance to make use of our time, we shouldn't throw it away and we should know its value.

Animals are being exteremly used in scientific researches nowadays. It is ambigious whether it should be done or not. While one side is saying that they, too, have right to live, the other side supports the idea that if animals are not used, what will be used instead of them.

Animals have right to live of course. They are animate, too. Using them in researches means taking their right of living from them. Generally, the researches result in the death of the animal and it is not matter if the animal died or not died. The topic of research is significant for the scientists. During the research the animals may probably have pain. In this issue, Bernard Rollin , a philosopher, said that no human benefit can lie on the animals pain.

On the other hand, some people say that animals should be used in scientific researches because if they are not used, we can not progress in the field of science on people. Especially, drug production, scientists have to test the items. How can they test? The drugs are for people and trying the new drug on people mean killing them. So scientists use animals as they resemble to the human kind a lot.

This matter is really worth argueing. Some are fan of using the animals in researches, some are not. But we should think carefully that the animals have right to live like us.

Today internet has reached its fastest speed providing people with everything that will come to your mind or not. It really makes the life easy for us but it is necessary to be able to look at it on the other hands. Although it has several advantages such as reaching the information whenever or whereever you want, giving chance to works and shopping online, when we look at it on the other hand it possesses disadvantages such as seperating us from real life,giving harm to our eyes and boring us only by sitting.

First of all, you lose yourself in online world and can forget teh real life. There are a lot of examples for this. A lot of children forget the time in the internet cafes only by sitting in front of computer. They do not understand the real life and sometimes they see it like a computer game. Apart from children, the adults, too, may cut the connects between the real life and online life.
They sometimes can not communicate with people normally because of internet.

secondly, to use internet excessively you have to look at the screen directly. Can you imagine what the harms of it may be. You will face a lot of eye problems such as not exactly seeing or little seeing. Do not forget eye is one of the most important organs of us.

Moreover, I think it is very boring to sit in front of a computer for hours only for internet.It really makes people asocial. While there is wonderful wheather outside, you sit infront of it and spend your time in vain. You forget your ''REAL WORLD FRIENDS ''.That is why I said it makes people bored.

Finally, in addition to the advantages of internet, There are harms, too, such as seperatins us from real life, giving harm to our eyes and boring us by making us sit in front of computer for hours. As lond as you use the internet well enough , you do not face these problems. I have to say that it is not important to having internet but to use it properly.

second life...

Second life is a new technological tool, which is used in different areas.I am one of the users of it and I asked the people there why they were using S.L. I infered from the answers that there are three main groups which use S.L. in different aims.The first of them is to improve their language skill, the second is to get know new friends and third one is education.

The first group is at the aim of improving their language. In second life, there are people from all over the world. In conversations they develop themselves. As they meet someone from other country whose language they have been trying to learn, they wil improve it.

The second group’s aim is to know new people, namely to be more social. There are some rooms to talk to each other. When they join these rooms, as the time passes; they know each other beter and their social life gets more enjoyable.

Moreover the third group uses this tool for only education aim. They attend the discussion parts and discuss the topic that the instructure gives them. The users send their answers of the questions to the instructure. I am one of the users of second life in this aim. There are online campuses to attend classes. I think it is good for education in the progressing world.

Finally, there are three gruops of people that use S.L. as far as I know. Improving their language, getting new friends and attending the lessons are the goals of them. As you see it is used by a lot of people. I think you should get a second life account!!!

my choice...Technology...

We have advanced reading and writing course in which we learn advanced technics of writing an efficient essay. There are two sections different from each other in terms of their using of different materials for course. One of them is based on advanced technology and the other is based on classical methods such as a paper and a pen. When I am asked which one I prefer, it is obvious that I choose the technological one.

If we think both of them, they are both teaching the same things used to write an essay. Their course plan has to be the same as the students who are taking this course are in the same level and have to learn the same things. A student graduated from the technological one will have no extra knowledge when he/she is compared with the one graduating from the classical one in terms of course plan.

One of the reasons why I chose the technological one is its relation to computer and my interest for it. We live in a progresing world and as a need of our job we will write essays. We can learn writing a beautiful essay in classical course as well as technological one. But the difference begins here that the second one gives extra computering skills that are very important in our days. In addition to this, I have interest for computer. I love living in technology world.

In term of being beneficial for future, the technological course is more efficient, I think. As you know, our world is developing fast and it is significant for us to catch it. We are going to be teachers of future, we can use the technics of technologic course for our students, too. It is good also that our essays will not be lost in computer in contrast to the classical course as you write your essay on paper and it is possible that they can be lost. We should record our writings to go through our falses.

There are some programmes that are used in the tehcnological course, for example; tapped in, secand life..We use these not only for writing an essay but also for commenting on someone else’s essay and arguing some topics. Commenting on essays will gain us the skill for seeing the falses and editing them. In arguements , we have the chance to see everybody’s idea. This does not take place in classic courses, you only write and read.

To sum up, I choose the technological course as it is better than the classical one although their aims are the same. It is beter to have computering skills in the technology world but I do not say paper and pen are not important. All I want to say is that technological course is preferable in terms of time, seeing falses, recording data, computing skills etc. Now I am taking advantage of joining to technological course.:D

I have a chance to go....

Travelling...That gives pleasure even when I think it. I am sure that everyone on the world loves travelling, exploring new cultures, meeting new people. Needless to say, I am one of them. If I were given a chance to go to anywhere for two weeks, I would be confused. But my answer would be Italia, the city of lovers. My reasons for it are very clear: my love to Italia, my education of Italian, the beauty of the country and their rise with love.
First of all, I love Italia because it is a typical Mediterranean county so it is hot and has sea-side.I am sure that I will enjoy the journey there. There are a lot of historical and natural pieces. In Florance there are two arenas named Duomo and Signoria.As far as I heard, both of them have meanings. And I want to solve these meanings.To say the truth, what I wonder the most is Rome. It is capital of Italia. Rome has beauty that is peculiar to itself.
Secondly, I am a student in Metu and I am taking Italian course as the second language. My teacher tells us that she visited Italia and had a wonderful time there.This really makes me excited and I want to go there. She has us listen Italian songs and they are, I think, wonderful. My other reason to go there is my goal to improve my Italian level. I belive that a foreign language is learned the best in the place where it is spoken as a native language.
In addition to these, when it is said ‘Italia’, what comes to mind is pizza and makoroni. Italia is famous for its pizza. They are specialized in making pizza and I believe that nobody can compete with them. Moreover their makaroni is also perfect. They cook it a bit different from us, they do not boil it as much as we do. And they say this in their language as ‘al dente’namely a bit stiff.
Love and Italia…This link pulls my attention, too. Italian men and women are born with a sign in their heart, as I heard.This maybe real because guitar, river, flowers, Venice…
I think they are men or women of love.
To sum up, Italia has wonderful things to see. It is necessary to taste its pizza and makaroni. Moreover, I should develop my Italian. But I am not sure that only two weeks are enough. However, I want to be lost in the streets of Italia…
